Amboseli National Park is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephant, as well as being home to a large variety of other wildlife. Amboseli, from the Maa word empusel, meaning ‘salty, dusty place’, protects 2 of the 5 main swamps in the Loitoktok District. The park boasts a limitless supply of underground water, as a result of Mount Kilimanjaro’s ice cap. In a low-rainfall area this makes for spectacular concentrations of wildlife and supports Amboseli’s claim as one of the best wildlife viewing experiences in the world.
Among safari activities are night game drives, sundowner and a chance to visit the authentic Elerai cultural village.
Satao Elerai Camp is located in a quiet, unspoilt setting on a 5 000 acre private conservation area 12ks south east of Amboseli National Park. Marvelous views to the park on one side and Mt Kilimanjaro on the other.
